Callers report 'big flash' before power outage in Youngstown
Nearly 3,000 homes and businesses lost power on Youngstown's West Side.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Callers to 9-1-1 reported power outages impacting hundreds of homes and businesses in Youngstown and Austintown Monday Morning.
According to the Youngstown Fire Department, residents reported seeing a big flash before the power went out shortly before 6 a.m.
Crews are investigating a report of wires down along Mahoning Avenue, just west of Steel Street.
Firefighters reported outages on the city's West Side and Downtown.
FirstEnergy at first reported nearly 3,000 homes and businesses in the dark. By 7:30 am more than 2,400 customers were still without power. That number had dwindled to 400 by 10:30 a.m.
Traffic lights began working again at around 8:30 a.m.
It's estimated power will be back on by 11 a.m. Monday.
