Hoops: Hickory, Wilmington hold moment of silence prior to game for Wilmington student

There was a moment of silence held prior to Friday's Hickory vs Wilmington boy's basketball game for Greyhound student Delanee Schiek, who tragically passed away this week.
Though competitors on the court, the Hickory student section showed amazing class, sportsmanship and support for Schiek, holding a white-out in the student section to represent the "angel gained," as requested by the Schiek family. The Hickory Student Section Twitter page stated, "We are all Greyhounds tonight," ahead of the game.
The start of the game at Hickory High School was pushed back slightly so that Wilmington players could attend a celebration of life ceremony in honor of their fallen classmate. Schiek was 15-years-old. Our thoughts at 21 News and 21 Sports are with the Wilmington community.
The Hornets won the game, 71-18 and improved to 1-1 on the season. Hickory was led by Joe Fazzone with 11 points followed by Jackson Pryts and Christian Evangelista each with nine.
Following the game, the State Runner-up Hickory boy's basketball team was honored, recognizing an amazing run by last year's team.
