National Guard not deployed to Mercy Health in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Earlier this week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine had deployed National Guard members to numerous hospitals across Ohio including some local ones. One local hospital without a National Guard presence is Mercy Health in Youngstown.
21 News received a statement from Ohio Department of Health (ODH) spokesperson, Alicia Shoults stating that ODH and the Ohio Hospital Association are working daily with Ohio hospitals to assess staffing needs to determine the most appropriate support for the National Guard.
Shoults says changes will be made accordingly based on staffing situations for hospitals throughout the state.
"Hospitalizations for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients change every day, and staffing adjustments will be made accordingly," Shoults said.
