NEWTON TWP, Ohio - Newton Township trustees are currently investigating an odor that has been present throughout the township building.

Trustee John Nemet tells 21 News that the culprit is a clogged line going from a bathroom in the building to a septic tank. Nemet says he first noticed the odor recently during a meeting but does not recall the exact day he noticed it.

Nemet also told us that the odor is currently gone, but only temporarily. He explained that a temporary solution to the problem is to flush the line out in order to get rid of the odor, but it will come back eventually.

Nemet tells 21 News that Newton Falls Road Superintendent Mike Hall had called a plumber to check the costs of fixing the clogged line.

21 News has reached out to Hall for comment on potential costs for repairs but has not heard back at this time.
