Former Liberty Township firefighter Joshua Cleland was sentenced Tuesday in court.

Cleland was sentenced to 90 days house arrest with work privileges, 5 years probation, mandatory counseling, as well as 200 hours of community service.

Cleland is also banned from being a public servant again, and had to forfeit $5,000 in cash, as well as guns and vehicles. He also had to pay a court fine.

Cleland was originally arrested in 2020 on drug related charges after the death of fellow Liberty Township firefighter John Beard.

Cleland plead guilty to amended charges of attempted possession of drugs with specification of forfeiture and attempted tampering with evidence.
