BRACEVILLE TWP., Ohio - Security cameras were recording when deputies say a man trashed a Route 5 convenience store in Braceville.

A report on the arrest of 34-year-old Devon Degenero of Garrettsville includes several pictures of smashed bottles inside the Marathon gas station.

According to a Sheriff’s Deputy report, the clerk working at the store around 1 a.m. Monday said that Degenero took a bottle from a cooler before smashing it on the floor.

The clerk said Degenero then picked up a hand-held scanner and took a swing at him before sweeping his arms, knocking over bottles from the top shelves along two aisles in the store.

The deputy went to the Newton Falls Inn where Degenero has been living and found that someone had smashed the dashboard console screen and windshield of a Ford Taurus parked there.

State Troopers found Degenero and brought him to the deputy, who said Degenero refused to get into his cruiser.

When the deputy finally got the suspect in handcuffs, he was booked into the county jail on charges of vandalism, assault, menacing, and resisting arrest.

Degenero is scheduled to be arraigned on those charges Thursday in Newton Falls Municipal Court.
