Suspect charged with murder after death of Girard man

A suspect has been booked and charged with Murder in Girard for the death of a Girard man.
Twenty-year-old Cole Conti has been booked in the Trumbull County Jail where he's charged with one count of Murder. He is currently being held without bond.
According to a police report from Girard Police, the incident happened just after midnight, Saturday morning at a home on Trumbull Avenue.
Upon arrival to the scene, police observed three men including Conti sitting on the front porch of the home. Police say they were told the three men were drinking when the victim, later identified as 31-year-old William Lowry allegedly struck one of the men in the face with his fist.
Conti told police he and another man began fighting Lowry and that he pulled out a knife and stabbed Lowry five times. After this, Conti told police that Lowry left in his car with his girlfriend.
Shortly after this, Girard Police Dispatch received a call from a local hospital regarding a shooting victim, later confirmed to be Lowry and that a Youngstown Police officer was investigating the circumstances. Police later confirmed that the hospital was reporting a shooting rather than a stabbing.
Just after 1:00 a.m., police were notified that Lowry had died.
The Trumbull County Homicide Task Force is assisting with the investigation.
