Twelve-year-old girl, missing since mid-August, found in Youngstown
A 12-year-old girl reported missing nearly a month ago has been found and charges could come against a man possibly associated with her disappearance.
The U.S. Marshals Service and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office say that the missing juvenile was recovered safely in the 700 block of Park Ave. Youngstown.
The 12-year-old was last seen on August 14, 2022, when she was reported missing to the Campbell Police Department.
The Marshals Missing Child Unit says its investigation led to the girl's recovery and the arrest of a 46-year-old man.
The name of the man won’t be released until charges are filed.
“Cooperation between law enforcement, the media, and the public is key in the recovery of many missing children,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot. “The importance of locating and recovering these children to return them to a safe environment can’t be understated. The dedicated work of our deputies and local partners continues to make a difference.”
The girl has been returned to the custody of Mahoning County Children Services.
