Driverless buggy sideswipes SUV in Mercer County

LAKE TWP., Pa. - State Police are trying to find the owner of a horse and buggy that sideswiped a Buick in Mercer County.
The driver of a Buick Encore told police he was traveling along Fredonia Road in Lake Township Thursday evening when a horse and buggy appeared in the middle of the road, traveling toward the SUV.
Police say the driver of the SUV swerved onto the shoulder of the road to avoid the buggy which had no driver and no lights.
Despite the evasive action, the buggy sideswiped the SUV, damaging the driver’s side from front to back.
The collision caused the horse to break away, leaving the buggy in the middle of the road and allowing the horse to run away.
The horse was rounded up later. Police say neither the buggy, nor the horse have any markings to identify the owner. Not only did the buggy not have a driver, it also had no seat.
No injuries were reported.
