Community helps Girard Police identify juvenile who struck student with minibike

GIRARD, Ohio - Girard Police are thanking the community for their assistance in helping them identify a male juvenile who struck a student getting off a school bus with a minibike.
According to a police report, the incident occurred Thursday, November 10 around 3:30 p.m. in the Parkwood area when the driver of the minibike failed to stop for a school bus and struck a student who was exiting the bus.
Police say the student suffered minor injuries and was evaluated in the hospital, but the student's family say the student is expected to be ok.
Thanks to an investigation and neighborhood canvassing, police were able to obtain security footage of the minibike, the operator and a passenger traveling on Davis Street approximately a block before the accident scene, though the footage does not show the accident itself.
Thanks to this footage, as well as tips offered to Girard Police over social media, those involved with the incident reached out to police via the dispatch center.
The male juvenile driver was issued multiple traffic violations including failure to stop at the bus's stop sign, willful or wanton operation in disregard of public safety and failure to stop for an accident.
The juvenile is also prohibited from operating the vehicle.
