YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - As cold temperatures and blowing snow continue to hit the area, road departments say they're doing their best to stay on top of it.
Youngstown Building and Grounds Commissioner Kevin Flinn told 21 News all city roads are open and passable.
Flinn said crews apply rock salt with a slag mix to help with traction.
He said the low temperature is freezing some materials in the trucks before they're able to spread it.
Even with that issue, road crews have moved to clear side streets.
Flinn said that while they work on side streets, they must rerun all routes because of the drifting snow.
