A new task force is taking shape, hoping to improve the care in Ohio's nursing homes.

Members visited Youngstown State University for its first event in a statewide series to hear directly from the community about the quality of care and life in the state's nursing homes.

The governor's office says many of Ohio's nursing homes and facilities are inconsistent in their compliance with standards of care and are forced to correct the same issues again and again.

"When we heard the stories Governor DeWine has received over and over again, it was incumbent upon us to take some steps," Director of the Ohio Department of Aging Ursel McElroy said.

The task force will present recommendations to the governor on May 26.
