A woman who's made it her mission to kick Austintown Trustee, Steve Kent from office could become an Austintown Trustee herself.

Austintown's very own Brenda Rider, who's been encouraging residents to sign a petition to get Kent out of office has announced via a video on her Facebook page that she is running for the position of township trustee.

In her video, Rider promised residents that if elected she would "bridge both sides" to get the township back on track.

"We've had some problems in the past and some problems right now that we need to work through. And it's going to take some time, it's going to take some hard work on a lot of different people's parts and a lot of patience. And we need that from our residents and our people that run this place," Rider said.

According to a campaign flier posted on Rider's Facebook page, Rider has a history in law enforcement, previously working as a police officer, as well as a dispatcher for the Austintown Police Department.

She's also previously worked as a private investigator specializing in human trafficking.

Rider currently works as a video arraignment coordinator and outside service bailiff at the Youngstown Municipal Court.

Rider created the Kick Kent From Office Facebook Page in early December of 2022. Since the page and movement's creation, she's hosted multiple petition signing events for Austintown residents to make their voices heard.
