A Warren woman is behind bars and charged with child endangerment after a toddler was found running near a roadway.

According to a report from Warren PD, a concerned citizen called police when she was driving and noticed a three-year-old boy running towards the roadway from a home on the 500 block of Hall Street.

Police knocked on the door of the house and eventually met and spoke with the owner, later identified as 34-year-old Cynthia Davis. Davis told police her child was missing and police assured her he was safe.

Upon verifying Davis's information with dispatch, police determined there were active warrants out for Davis's arrest. She was taken into police custody without incident.

Meanwhile, police spoke to the child's grandmother about the situation and left the child in her custody.

The child's grandmother, along with Davis and neighbors all told police that this was not the first time the child had escaped the home. Police cite a call from Friday, April 21 regarding the child escaping the same home.

Davis told police she's in the process of getting a better lock to prevent future incidents like this.
