Mahoning Valley - Gas prices in Northeast Ohio are lower this week according to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report.

This week's average price is $3.285 across the region, six cents lower than last week. At this time last year, the average price per gallon was $4.121.

In the Mahoning Valley, Niles has the lowest average, coming in at $3.198 followed by Youngstown at $3.224.

AAA says the national average price for gasoline rose to $3.59 this week, despite lower-than-normal demand. The leading factor in the increase is higher oil prices, which came in around the mid-$70s per barrel.

The latest data from the Energy Information Administration found that gas demand increased slightly from 8.76 to 8.86 million for the week ending July 14. Domestic gasoline supplies also fell from 219.5 to 218.4 million barrels during that time.
