Power has been restored to more than 6,100 homes and businesses in Mahoning County.

According to FirstEnergy's outage map, as of 3:00 p.m. a total of 6,130 customers were without power with the most prominent areas being Austintown with 2,184, Boardman with 1,437, and Youngstown with 1,802.

Additionally, Canfield Township reported 595 outages and the City of Canfield had an additional 112.

The power came back on before 4:30 p.m.

Lauren Siburkis of FirstEnergy says line crews worked to repair what she described as a "circuit lockout."

"Think of our electrical equipment the same as you would a circuit breaker in your home. Our equipment works like a circuit breaker in a home that shuts off power when trouble occurs, known as a circuit lockout" Siburkis said.

First Energy is still investigating the cause of the circuit lockout.
