Man shot in eye after hit-skip crash in Youngstown, police looking for suspect

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday morning near the YSU campus.
The shooting happened just before 7:45 a.m. on Foster Street near the intersection with George Street.
YPD's 911 center got a call from the shooting victim, who said they were involved in a hit-skip accident on the Madison Avenue Expressway. According to a police report, the victim's car was side swiped.
Police say the two initially pulled over, but when the victim got out of his car, the suspect vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The victim followed the driver after they left the scene of the crash until they both stopped on Foster Street.
According to the report, dispatchers instructed the male victim to stop following the vehicle, but he continued to do so.
After both cars stopped, the suspect, who police say is possibly a female got out of the car and started shooting at the victim. Police say he was shot in the right eye, right arm and right shoulder.
After the shooting, a passenger in the suspect's car drove away from the scene and the victim drove himself to the hospital where he is in stable condition.
YPD found the vehicle involved in the shooting but they haven't been able to locate the suspect yet. Police found 15 spent shell casings of suspected 5.7x28 caliber rounds.
