The Trumbull County Courthouse has been the target of vandalism for the second time in less than two years.

County Sheriff’s Deputies say security video shows four windows on the southwest corner of the historic building being shattered late Wednesday by a hooded man throwing rocks. The windows led to a courtroom and a conference room on the first floor.

Not long after, Warren Police say 36-year-old Christopher Gembicki of Girard came to police headquarters claiming he caused the damage and wanted to be arrested.

After giving a written statement to deputies, Gembicki was handcuffed and booked into the county jail on a vandalism charge.  The suspect did not tell deputies why he broke the windows.

During a video arraignment in Warren Municipal Court, Gembicki pleaded not guilty. His bond was set at $2,500 and he was ordered to have no contact with the courthouse.

It was back in November 2021 that rocks were thrown through the courthouse windows.

For that incident, Joanna McCane of Youngstown pleaded guilty to vandalism and was ordered to pay $5,000 for the damage and placed on probation for five years.
