Mill Creek MetroParks' facility Hawkins Marsh in Smith Twp. will be closed for an improvement project beginning Tuesday.

According to the park, the project includes the installation of an access drive, parking lot, and aggregate trails. The project is expected to last approximately sixty days barring any work delays due to weather.

Hawkins Marsh is located at 17655 Western Reserve Road. The 161-acre property known as Hawkins Marsh consists of a variety of natural habitats including wetlands. In 2022, the Metroparks partnered with West Creek Conservancy to acquire the property.

The funding for the project is provided through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund grant which provides up to 75 percent funding for this project.
