Even if you’re tired of reading stories about Monday’s solar eclipse, here’s one that might brighten your day.

While thousands had their eyes on the heavens, doctors and nurses were busy bringing 18 new babies into the world at hospitals in Boardman and Warren.

To make the happy occasion even more special, the newborns were dressed in onesies with the words “My First Solar Eclipse”, along with the date.

Fourteen of the babies were delivered at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, while four others were born at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

It just so happened that April 8th was also the tenth anniversary of the Labor and Delivery Department at Mercy Health.

Kudos to Kelly King, nurse manager at Boardman’s Labor and Delivery unit for making sure newborn families had a special way to celebrate the special event.
