Attorney's will be holding a question and answer session this week about the multi-million dollar class action settlement against Norfolk Southern.

If approved, some East Palestine residents could potentially get a cut of a $600 million settlement from the rail company over the train derailment in February, 2023.

In April, it was announced that residents living in a 20-mile radius of the train derailment had the option of joining the class action lawsuit.

According to court documents, the agreement-in-principle of who the class action lawsuit will impact has been reached with the company, via a $600 million class action settlement that would resolve all claims within a 20-mile radius from the derailment and, for those residents who choose to participate, personal injury claims within a 10-mile radius of the derailment.

During Tuesday's session, residents will be able to ask attorney's any questions regarding the settlement, such as how they will receive their money, what factors will be taken into consideration and how the settlement will work if approved.

The agreement still requires the approval of U.S. District Court Judge Benita Pearson.

The question and answer session will be held Tuesday, May 7 in the auditorium of East Palestine High School. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will start at 6 p.m. It is open to the public.
