A Boardman man who worked as a patrol officer at Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman is on probation for the next year after authorities say he improperly looked up information from the state crime computer system.

Forty-one-year-old Jason Carron originally faced five felony counts of unauthorized use of property after the Ohio Attorney General’s Office found that he illegally accessed information through the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway in 2021.

The Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway is a secure web-based platform helping criminal justice agencies to connect, solve, and prevent crimes.

Late last week, Carron pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor counts of attempted unauthorized use of property.

In addition to being placed on probation for 12 months, Carron was fined $500.
