BOARDMAN, Ohio - Folks living in Boardman will decide the fate of EMS operations this November.

Boardman Trustees have approved a 4.5 mill Fire/EMS that will raise enough money to expand the number of ambulances that work in the Township.

The five-year levy would raise close to $6 million to staff all three fire stations with an EMS/Ambulance crew and a fire crew.

This is something township officials say the community needs because of a perfect storm of aging population, a "substantial increase" in EMS calls, and a shortage of EMSE companies and personnel.

Eight years ago, 11 private ambulance companies were working in Mahoning County, now there are only two.

Per the $100,000 house value, this levy will cost a homeowner $158 annually.
