Mahoning County Auditor Ralph Meacham has announced on Wednesday that over $7,000 from a settlement between the State of Ohio and Family Dollar will be distributed to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

According to a press release, Second Harvest Food Bank will receive $7,691.25 from the $400,000 settlement.

The settlement was reached after Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost sued dollar store chains like Family Dollar and Dollar General for allegedly displaying one price for items on the shelf, but charging a different, higher price at the register.

This agreement earmarked $250,000 to solely go to food banks or other similar charities to purchase and distribute food and personal care items across Ohio with the beneficiaries chosen by county auditors.

"Second Harvest Food Bank helps so many people in our county and I am thrilled to award this money to such an amazing organization," Meacham said.
