Grove City Community Library continues facing financial issues

It has been over a year since the former director of the Grove City Community Library (GCCL) was accused of stealing thousand of dollars from the organization. Although the former director is gone, their financial issues are still present.
"What we did fundraise last year was just a band aid on a large wound. So, it only was a temporary fix. So now we have to keep that momentum up to keep it until we get to the point where we're sustainable," GCCL's librarian, Heather Baker said.
Their mounting financial problems have caused them to lay people off and prepare to close their doors again on Saturday's starting this fall. So, now they are having more fundraisers to help raise money to avoid reaching a tipping point that could force them to close.
Last year former director Amy Gallagher, was accused of stealing about $26,000 from the library.
The library's newest board of trustees president Carla Ligo, told 21 News that the alleged embezzlement is partially to blame. Ligo said the library has roughly $40,000 dollars in its account.
Since the embezzlement allegations, many in the community are still supporting the library, but there are many who are hesitant to donate.
The library's board of directors want to eliminate those doubts by being more transparent, visible and accessible to contributors.
According to Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker, Gallagher's next court appearance will be November 6 at the Mercer County court house.
