Remaining absentee ballots in Mahoning County to be delivered by Friday

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - All absentee ballots for Mahoning County are printed and have been secured by the post office in Youngstown. Director Tom McCabe said he personally put them in the mail Monday night.
Absentee ballot voters in Mahoning County have faced two delays this election cycle. The first delay was because of an insert that was required to let voters know votes for Jill Stein won't be counted. The second, was when an Akron-based vendor contracted to print the ballots, did not deliver.
After that debacle, McCabe took matters into his own hands by driving to Cincinnati on Monday night to get them from a new vendor.
The director told 21 News that voters should have their ballots by the end of the week at the latest. He is urging them to send the ballots back as quickly as possible.
"You can either send them through the post office, and it needs postmarked by Monday before election [day], or they can use the drop box [at the Mahoning County Board of Elections]," McCabe said.
Absentee ballots can be dropped off on election day, but only at the drop box at the board of elections office in Youngstown.
McCabe said all ballots will be counted, but if voters have any concerns, he said absentee voters can still vote early.
"If a voter did request an absentee and they choose to come and vote early, then we will cancel that absentee [ballot], McCabe said.
