The Youngstown Public Works Department has closed a stretch of a West Side street because of icy conditions.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, Connecticut Avenue is closed between Dunlap Avenue and Moherman Avenue.

City officials say they hope to determine the cause of the ice once temperatures rise to 20 degrees or more.

Until then, traffic on the one-way street is being diverted along Dunlap Avenue to Mahoning Avenue.

According to the latest available traffic counts, more than 3,000 cars and trucks travel along Connecticut Avenue daily.
