Two Youngstown brothers were sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a cocaine trafficking operation that spanned multiple states.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ruben Noel Sanchez, 29, was sentenced to 13 years in prison, followed by four years of supervised release. Rubel Sanchez, 22, received a 10-year prison sentence, also followed by four years of supervised release.

The brothers were among 17 people indicted in March 2024 on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and related firearms offenses. The indictment alleged the group distributed cocaine in western Pennsylvania and Youngstown.

Prosecutors said the Sanchez brothers were part of a drug trafficking group that shipped cocaine from Puerto Rico, often using the U.S. Postal Service. They also received cocaine shipments sent to Philadelphia and then transported them to Youngstown.

The brothers then distributed the drugs in Youngstown and Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, prosecutors said.

In March 2024, a search warrant was executed at a Youngstown home used by the brothers. Investigators seized three Glock pistols, including one with a machine gun conversion device, ammunition, and various drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.

Prosecutors said the brothers were responsible for distributing at least 5 kilograms of cocaine, at least 40 grams of fentanyl, and quantities of heroin and methamphetamine.
