Former Vienna fiscal officer to go on trial in May for alleged misuse of township funds

Vienna Township's former fiscal officer is set to go on trial in May for alleged misuse of township funds.
During a Wednesday afternoon hearing, former Vienna Township fiscal officer Linda McCullough was arraigned on several more charges from a superseding indictment. She was then set to go on trial May 12.
The superseding indictment filed back in February added three counts of tampering with records to a laundry list of charges McCullough had already been indicted on including four more counts of tampering with records, two counts of theft in office and one count of telecommunications fraud.
It is alleged that between August 6, 2021 and March 21, 2024, McCullough spent between $7,500 and $150,000 worth of taxpayers' money on personal expenses like credit card charges from several retail outlets.
The superseding indictment revealed that McCullough allegedly stole $116,370.82 from the township.
These missing funds have led to layoffs for the township's police and fire departments.
During the arraignment hearing, prosecutors recommended McCullough to be held on a $25,000 due to the new charges, but judge Cynthia Rice ruled that her personal bond be continued because she was taking care of elderly relatives.
Prior to her May 12 trial, McCullough is due back in court April 16 for another pretrial hearing.
