The Trumbull County Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) Coalition has partnered with Prevention Resources to provide a new "toolkit" that discusses the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

A news release from ASAP states that during a survey conducted, students in the sixth grade in Trumbull County responded that the first time they had tried vaping was 10 years old.

ASAP and Prevention Resources aim to provide parents of elementary school-aged children with resources and tools they might need in order to have conversations about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

The toolkit includes information on the dangers of alcohol, vaping, marijuana and prescription drugs as well as tips for how to talk to children about these topics.

The toolkit is available to view on the front page of the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board website, ASAP's Facebook page and in print.

"An additional toolkit will soon be available for parents of middle and high school students," said Lauren Thorpe, ASAP Project Director.
