Youngstown Police find 26 shell casings as Southside home is shot up

Youngstown police are investigating a shooting on West Evergreen Avenue that triggered multiple ShotSpotter alerts and damaged a home and a car.
Officers responded to the area around midnight on Monday after receiving reports of multiple ShotSpotter activations, indicating a high volume of gunfire. Dispatchers reported three ShotSpotter activations recording 12, 16, and 10 rounds being fired.
A woman flagged down an officer near West Warren Avenue and Hillman Street. The woman, who was described as frantic, told the officer she had witnessed the shooting on West Evergreen Avenue.
Once at the address, the officer found spent shell casings on the ground and a pistol grip in the roadway near West Evergreen Avenue and Oak Hill Avenue. Officers collected 26 shell casings from two different caliber weapons.
They also reported finding six to eight bullet holes in the front of the house, with damage extending into the living room and dining room.
A woman at the home told officers she was downstairs when she heard gunfire striking the house.
Police say they also saw a bullet hole in the rear driver’s side door of a Dodge Charger.
