The Columbiana 40&8 is organizing a Veteran Stand Down at their facility on State Route 14 on Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All veterans and active duty are invited to attend, including those who are not club members.

Those committed to attending so far include the Mahoning County Veteran Services, Community Action Agency/Ohio Means Jobs, Community Legal Aid, and the Alliance Army Recruiting Stations. Brightside Project will also donate a small gift to children who attend, and organizations like NAMI will provide literature.

Some food will be on-site during the event, including DiRusso's sponsoring the Italian sausage for sandwiches and Cellone's donating buns.

The 40&8 was established in 1920 by members of the American Legion and named from the boxcars that carried 40 men or eight horses during WWI in France.

The Columbiana location donates locally to nursing scholarships and will sell pins to help raise scholarship funds.
