The weekends mean rain around here, lately. If you're keeping track, it seems old habits die hard, as we've now had at least a trace of precipitation recorded on 20 out of the last 23 weekends, impacting either Saturday, Sunday, or both. One final day of rain and storms will impact the region on Monday, coinciding with the kickoff of the 125th US Open just over the state line in Oakmont, PA. We expect around 0.50" to over an inch of rain up in heftier thunderstorms later today as the showers and storms move through the Valley.

Budget time for morning fog to affect the rush to work. An approaching system will bring an elevated threat of severe weather, characterized by strong upper-level winds, abundant moisture, and some instability. Be mindful of excessive runoff, which could lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, low-lying areas, and drainage issues. On a brighter note, the timing of these storms could offer a prime opportunity to spot rainbows as the rain clears and the sun sets in the opposite sky.

Finally, the front will chase away the rain chances and the "air you can wear" by Tuesday, setting us up for a stunning stretch of golf weather for the US Open, the third Major of the year. Sinking air usually brings us blue skies, but with the Canadian wildfire smoke still ongoing in the atmosphere we will have hazy sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday.

Consistently warm temperatures will grab your attention this week, ushering in a summer-like feel. Highs are expected to return to the 80s on Thursday and Friday. Believe it or not, the now laughable rain chances are set to return for the upcoming Father's Day weekend. More details to come, but you may need to waterproof your plans for the 21st wet weekend so far this year.

Have a great Monday!
