Packard Music Hall hires Covelli Centre manager

Updated:
WARREN, Ohio - The Packard Park Board of Trustees announced Monday that JAC Management has been hired to operate Packard Music Hall.

JAC CEO Eric Ryan has been managing the 57-hundred seat Covelli Centre in Youngstown since 2009, where he has booked acts such as pop star Elton John and rock icon Rod Stewart.

Under the arrangement, the city will still own the hall, but day-to-day operations would be handled by JAC. By making the change, the city hopes to eliminate the subsidy the city provides to the hall and attract bigger acts.

As it is now, the city pays roughly $320,000 per year to the hall.

City officials believe that the new arrangement will make the venue more profitable because private management can book more entertainment. The city can't risk taxpayer dollars on booking shows that might lose money.

City leaders say the goal is to spark the local economy.
