EAST LIVERPOOL - A pregnant women has succumbed to her injuries and passed away after being backed over by a car with her boyfriend in the driver's seat.

The incident occurred early Saturday afternoon at the Broadway Wharf in East Liverpool.

According to East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane, 21-year-old Stephanie Householder was in an argument with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Cameron Martin, when she stepped out of the passenger seat of the car with Martin still in the driver's seat.

Householder walked behind the vehicle when Martin, allegedly believing that she was clear, put the car in reverse and started moving backwards, striking Householder.

EMT's treated her injuries and she was airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh, initially in critical condition.

Householder succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital later that night.

Police say that Martin has been cooperating fully with the investigation into the incident and has not been charged at this point due to it being unclear if the accident was reckless or malicious.

Martin's case is currently under investigation. Once complete, the findings will be sent to the Columbiana County Prosecutor's Office, where they will decide if it will be sent to the Columbiana Grand Jury for a potential criminal indictment.
