UPDATE:

State Route 58 is now back open after the fatal accident shut it down for several hours this afternoon.

21 News spoke with the man who rescued two little girls from one of the cars involved in the accident.

At only 17 years old, Julian Barr of Grove City, Pennsylvania has not been driving for very long, but the accident he helped with taught him a harsh lesson about the dangers of the road.

Barr told 21 News, "The black car was flying down the road and the blue car, they just collided out of nowhere."

Police said that a man from one car and a woman from the other car both died in the accident.

According to officials, two little girls were in the car with the woman.

Barr continued, "We sat them down and talked to them to make sure they weren't going to sleep or anything and just waited for help to arrive. I told their mom that help was on the way and I got her two daughters out and they're safe."

The section of Route 58 where the accident took place was closed for several hours while the accident reconstruction team worked the scene. It finally reopened just before 6:00 p.m.

The Jefferson Township Police Chief told 21 News, "There were two younger children, they were minor injuries and taken to a local hospital; other than that, we're still trying to piece together a lot of things here."

As police continue their investigation, Julian Barr said that he is hoping he has the chance to comfort the two little girls who went through such a traumatic experience.

Barr said, "I'm trying to find out what hospital they're at so I can take them flowers and a teddy bear or something."

Jefferson Township Police said there are a lot of moving parts as they are in the early stages of the investigation.

The Chief told 21 News they will not be releasing any names or any other information until Monday.
