BOARDMAN - On Friday, December 19, 21 News reported that the Southern Park Mall's back taxes have been paid and that the mall is under new management.

Now, Mahoning County Treasurer Dan Yemma has confirmed with 21 News that as of Friday, mall owner Kohan Retail Investment Group has paid $1,063,789.40 in back taxes, and that the money was successfully wired into the county's bank account.

All seven parcels under the Southern Park Mall umbrella are now up to date on property taxes.

This comes just days after Boardman Township Trustees wrote a letter asking the Ohio Attorney General's Office to investigate Kohan Retail Investment Group for alleged fraudulent activity.

The letter addressed several issues, including multiple failed attempts to pay off overdue taxes.

Addtionally, a media release sent to 21 News on Friday states that the mall is now under new management, with Bill McClure announced as the mall's new general manager.

The mall's next property tax deadline is the first half collection period in March of 2026.
