Appeal denied for inmate convicted in Warren murder case

WARREN - The appeal of an inmate convicted in a murder case in Warren has been denied.
Tyree Brown (pictured above on left) was sentenced in February of 2025 to 36 years to life in prison for the murder of 29-year-old Kardell Lowery in July of 2024. He was found guilty of aggravated murder and aggravated burglary, both with firearm specifications, as well as having weapons under disability.
Brown appealed this sentence, claiming evidence presented by the prosecution, including testimony from Lowery's girlfriend and her son, testimony from a jailhouse informant, video surveillance and DNA recovered from latex gloves, failed to prove that Brown fired the fatal headshot.
Additionally, Brown argued that his trial attorney was ineffective, and that the court should have granted a mistrial because the jury heard evidence of Brown's co-defendant Michael Williamson's (pictured above on right) guilty plea.
However, all of these claims were found to be without merit and Brown's conviction was upheld.
