STRUTHERS - The case of the Struthers Band Boosters treasurer, who is accused of misappropriating thousands of the organization's dollars is now in the hands of a grand jury.

During a preliminary hearing Monday morning, the case of 49-year-old Jayna Vilsack was bound over to the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, where a grand jury must now decide whether or not there is enough evidence to indict Vilsack.

Vilsack is facing a felony theft charge after police say she had used $5,092.57 from the Struthers Band Boosters' bank account to pay for personal expenses.

Additionally, Vilsack is accused of withdrawing another $2,000 from a separate bank account belonging to the organization.

Vilsack allegedly admitted to misappropriating the funds to police, allegedly telling detectives, "I fell on hard times and did what I did."
