STRUTHERS - The treasurer of the Struthers Band Boosters is facing a felony theft charge after her alleged misuse of the organization's funds.

Following a tip from The MLO Bros., 21 News verified that a criminal complaint alleges that between April 21, 2025 and December 3, 2025, 49-year-old Jayna Vilsack had used funds intended for the Struthers Band Boosters to pay for personal expenses.

Police were called to Stuthers High School on Monday, December 8 and spoke with the school's superintendent, principals, band director and band booster president.

According to the complaint, the school's band director received an email notifying him of suspicious and unauthorized transactions by Vilsack. The complaint alleges Vilsack admitted to using the Band Booster bank card for personal expenses.

The complaint alleges that Vilsack misappropriated a total of $5,092.57 from the bank account. Additionally, the organization discovered that Vilsack allegedly withdrew another $2,000 from a separate bank account belonging to the boosters.

According to the complaint, detectives called Vilsack and asked her if she would like to speak about the missing funds, to which she allegedly replied, "I mean, yeah. I have no problem. I fell on hard times and did what I did."

She later admitted to misappropriating the funds to detectives in an interview conducted on December 12, according to the complaint.

According to court records, Vilsack was arraigned on Friday, December 19. She's due back in court for a preliminary hearing on December 29.
