A former representative of Ohio's 59th District is now looking to step back into the Ohio House of Representatives to serve Ohio's 58th District.

John Boccieri announced his plan to run on January 28, 2026. Now, as of February 3, Boccieri has officially filed petitions to appear on the 2026 election day ballot.

Currently, State Representative Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) represents the 58th District, which encompasses the City of Youngstown, Poland Village, Poland Township, Lowellville Village, Coitsville Township, Austintown Township, Jackson Township, Milton Township and Craig Beach Village at Lake Milton.

"I'm very concerned about the direction of our state and country," said Boccieri.

Boccieri continued," It's becoming harder to make ends meet for families in my community with grocery prices, health care costs are hurting families, along with energy costs and home prices skyrocketing. There is a real affordability problem."

During his time serving in the State Legislature, Boccieri shared the following legislation that he helped to pass:

  • Delivered the initial legislation that eventually led to the Valley's community college
  • Brought funding back for Wick Neighbor's green space initiatives
  • Restructured local funding options to support the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport during its realignment and closure
  • Passed the Military Injury Relief Fund for wounded soldiers
  • Permitted a 200-foot barrier around military funerals from protesters
  • Positioned the Ravenna Arsenal for the East Coast Missile Defense

"Bad policy decisions are driving up prices and it'stime for Columbus and Washington to pay attention. People are scared and uncertain about the future Columbus is offering. Our community deserves better," said Boccieri.
