Over $15,000 in treasure hidden in Newton Falls, hunt aims to boost local business

According to a Facebook post from the Fieldview Acres Mercantile page on Monday, February 9, the previously announced treasure hunt will start soon for the Newton Falls and surrounding communities.
The treasure hunt began with an idea from Tom Colosimo, co-owner of the Fieldview Acres Mercantile antique shop, who wished to bring more foot traffic to Newton Falls businesses.
"We wanted to let the public feel that same exhilaration that I get when I'm looking for treasures," said Colosimo.
Colosimo shared a photo with 21 News on January 31, 2026, that depicted over $1,000 in silver coins and other items, a portion of what is included in the treasure cache.

Since that announcement, the Facebook post reveals that the total sum of treasure now equates to over $15,000, with the potential to grow.
The cache includes cash, gold and silver coins and jewelry, according to the post.
The hunt officially begins on March 3 at noon, with clues as to where the treasure is hidden released on the Fieldview Acres Mercantile Facebook page, Instagram and TikTok, along with certain Facebook groups.
Clues will be released once every two weeks on Tuesdays at noon beginning March 3.
The hunt is free to participate in and is open to all community members in the region.
It is specified in the post that hunt does not require seekers to dig, climb, trespass, enter water, damage or move anything or enter any unsafe, restricted or private property.
