11th exposed coffin found near Ohio lake
LEWIS CENTER, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say they've found another casket with skeletal remains near a central Ohio lake where 10 other coffins were recently discovered poking out of the ground.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says a Delaware County funeral home removed the metal vault, which will be reburied at Berlin Township Cemetery north of Columbus.
The corps has said that the 10 coffins found last week are at least 75 years old, with half containing human bone fragments. Those caskets, and the one discovered Friday, likely became exposed because of shifting ground and erosion.
The caskets were found near the site of the Old Cheshire Cemetery, which was relocated during construction of the Alum Creek Dam in the 1970s.
