21 Sports has learned that expansion could be coming to the Federal League.  The league is still in the process of deciding whether to expand or just keep the league at eight schools.

Athletic directors met to see how scheduling would result and they decided in football to use the Big Ten method of playing seven teams instead of all the league teams. The same would be done with basketball.

Two schools that appear to be in line if the league expands are Warren Harding and Massillon Washington, but it depends on what happens next.

The Federal Legaue has some important dates ...

  • April 21st - Meeting to decide to whether or not to continue expansion process.
  • June - If they continue expansion schools will make presenations on why they should join the league.
  • August - Schools would vote on the expansion.

Six of the eight schools would have to vote yes for the new schools to join to the league.
