BOARDMAN, Ohio- Consumers who are in the market for a new car may be able to take advantage of General Motors' plans to eliminate the Saturn and Pontiac brands.

In order to get rid of the remaining inventory, GM is offering dealers $7,000 for every new vehicle they purchase off the lot until January 4.

These cars are new, but are labeled as used, with the dealer being considered the original owner.

Bill Burns from Saturn of Boardman said this and other deals make it a good time to purchase one of the vehicles.

"With current incentives we have going on, if you qualify for everything, GM discount or supplier discount, you could have anywhere from $7,500 to $8.500 off, plus the tax savings and write off savings at the end of the year," Burns said.

Inventories are depleted at many dealerships, though, with Saturn of Boardman down to four new cars.

They are not expected to replenish their lots since the Saturn plant has already closed down.

"Right not I've got, like, three Auras, mid-size sedan. I've got one outlook and we've got a bunch of pre-owned vehicles, Saturns and other manufacturers, too," Burns said.

He said he hopes the dealership will get another GM franchise, but will continue to sell used cars in the mean time.

GM is expected to make a decision about the Boardman dealership some time in January.
