YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Former Mahoning County Treasurer John Reardon, who is facing criminal charges in the Oakhill public corruption probe, is anxious to face his accusers and see the evidence against him.

Reardon was officially booked at the Mahoning County Jail on Friday morning.

Reardon, recently resigned his state job shortly before being indicted on nine criminal charges related to the county's Oakhill Renaissance scandal, said "I'm charged with crimes here.  Obviously very serious crimes that i did not commit.  And that's the truth."

Reardon said his strong faith gives him confidence that the truth will prevail.

His attorney, Lou DeFabio, said Reardon was only trying to do the right thing.  Fabio said "I'm confident that when not only the jury, but the public hears the evidence they'll be convinced that John was right from the beginning that Oakhill was a bad project. And i think we're going to continue to see that it's a bad project as the years come."

In the meantime, Reardon is focused on taking care of his family and working to clear his name.
