NORTH JACKSON, Ohio - A food service company called Mom's Meals has moved its operations from Iowa to North Jackson, Ohio.

Mom's Meals is the leading supplier of fresh made meals for seniors that can be delivered to the door. At Mom's Meals food preparation begins like it did in your mom's kitchen, with fresh vegetables, meats, and poultry, then it goes to the oven and is ready to enjoy.

The owners of the company say their mission is to make meals that taste great, look great, and meet all nutritional requirements for seniors, folks recuperating from surgery, or folks who want to buy the meals just because they don't have time to cook or don't like to cook.

Many of the customers include seniors on Medicaid, state, or local government assistance.

Rick Anderson says, "It's almost like a restaurant. You get 70 different meals to pick from each week. You can pick all meat loaf, all steak dinners or all fish. All of them are heart healthy, all of them are low in sodium and all of them meet low diabetic requirements. We even have gluten free."

Anderson says the dietitians make sure the meals comply with state and federal nutritional standards.

His son, and co-owner Mike Anderson, tells us the meals can be microwave ready in a minute or two and offers a higher quality product than traditional frozen meals.

Anderson says the process of preserving food is a natural process, preservation free, and adds food can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 18 days.

Meals can be shipped to any state.

The company Purfoods and Mom's Meals expanded operations to the North Jackson facility since it has many customers in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Around 60 more workers are needed at the North Jackson facility. Prep workers, food workers, food tenders, people who work in packaging, maintenance, truck drivers, and in the packing plant on Victoria Drive are needed.
