DAYTONA, Florida - It has not been a good week for Hartford native Dave Blaney at the Daytona International Speedway.

On Sunday, he couldn't make a qualifying lap due to a mechanical issue with his car and during practice Wednesday his number 77 Ford Fusion was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A multi vehicle crash during the first practice session cost Blaney a chance to race his way into the Daytona 500.

Since the team did not have a backup car, and team owner Randy Humprey could not secure one from another team, The Buckeye Bullet is out of any chance to qualify for his 13th Great American Race.
