A northern Ohio man is facing life in prison after pleading guilty to fatally beating his girlfriend's 3-year-old son in 2012.
SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - A northern Ohio man is facing life in prison after pleading guilty to fatally beating his girlfriend's 3-year-old son in 2012.
The Sandusky Register reports that 26-year-old Michael Milner pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated murder as part of a plea agreement that removed the possibility of the death penalty.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 7.
Prosecutors say Danielle Flannery's 3-year-old son Owen died in Sandusky on July 30, 2012, while in the care of Milner, who was her boyfriend at the time. Owen died from a fatal blow to the chest.
Milner said Owen slipped and fell on a toy, but officials determined the boy had suffered repeated abuse.
The 23-year-old Flannery was sentenced to 11 years in prison in February after pleading guilty to permitting child abuse.
