Nearly 100-year-old country retail store in Cortland set to close its doors in July

CORTLAND, Ohio - A retail store for animal supplies and other home and garden needs in Cortland is set to close its doors in mid to late July in 2025 according to an employee of the store.
Centerra Country Store, located at 312 South Mecca Street, Cortland, has been open since 1934. Now, according to an employee, the 91-year-old store will be closing its doors.
According to the employee, it was a corporate decision that she says was not made lightly or quickly, as there were lots of factors to consider.
The decision came down to the location needing more than they could justify investing into the area marketplace, according to the employee.
The Cortland store is holding a 30% off sale for the whole store, excluding livestock feed, wild bird feed, grass seed and bedding, according to the employee.
According to the employee, the sale continues through June 27, then the percentage of the sale will increase.
The employee told 21 News that no other locations are expected to close.
